fire meets water

fire meets water
red meets white
yin meets yang
purusha meets prakriti
warm meets cool
valley meets hill

equilibrium seems possible.

the kitchen is not so scary after all...

i have started experimenting with some culinary skills, which i thought were nonexistent in my case!

just a few months back i did not know how to fill water from the Aquaguard (yes, i know that is shameful).

now i do know how to fill water from the Aquaguard. that is just the beginning.

i make sunny side up eggs, scrambled eggs, omelettes.
egg frittata.
veg and boiled eggs in pizza sauce sandwich.
rice.
some Indian veg dishes.
chicken in barbeque sauce.
cream sauce pasta with sundried tomatoes, mushrooms and chicken.
chocolate dessert.

and i m still learning :)

realisations long overdue

I have been in the same profession since I started working.
After a significant number of years, I suddenly feel I have realised it.
I probably should be in this profession!
I suddenly like what I am doing.
And probably should do this for good.

Strangely at the same time there has been yet another realisation.

I have been friends with someone for years.
He has been around, for me, with me, for so long.
He knows everything about me- including the deepest secrets and my craziest fears.
All of a sudden, I am wondering why we are not together.
Probably he should be my friend for life.

the lotus sutra

a friend from bombay sent me a book. the buddha in the mirror.
and surprisingly it made a whole lot of sense to me.

i ve read it twice already. at different points of time.
and it makes me calm.
it makes me think clearly.
it makes me forgive.
it makes me stop fretting.
it makes me smile.

La Bouna Vita

i went to italy.
my first international trip.

it was a different world altogether. and it seemed like a beautiful world.
with lots of music, art, sculpture and architecture. beautiful buildings. beautiful scenery. beautiful people. everyone eats gelato. everyone drinks wine. everyone seems happy.

2 weeks of travel.
rome. vatican city. naples. pompei. mt. vesuvius. florence. pisa. venica. milan.

a place leaves an impression on you.
an everlasting impression.
and sometimes it makes you think differently.

en mel vizhundha mazhaithuliyae

from where i sit, i see the wide open door.
our little balcony.
the potted plants that my flatmate has insisted on keeping.
its only now that i see the beauty of the plants.
it looks more beautiful in the rains.
the raindrops adding a gleaming effect to the plants.
the tree ahead. the squirrels running for shelter.

its pouring. rains are beautiful.

yesterday i walked in the rain. with a friend.
got quite drenched. but it was magical.

and the words were ringing in my head.
the music going on and on...

en mel vizhundha mazhaithuliyae
iththanai naalai engirundaay....?

really??
iththanai naalai engirundaay?

Sohini and Mehar

Reading translated versions of Shah Abdul Latif s Sufi verses.

Sohini and Mehar's tragic love story has caught my fancy. Sohini and Mehar's love was opposed by all, and Sohini was married off to someone else forcefully. Sohini swims across a river using a baked pot every single night to meet her lover Mehar. One fateful night, her evil sister in law changes the pot to an unbaked one, and slowly Sohini drowns as she tries to swim across the river. Shes is finally united with her lover in death.

Read another line in the morning.
By Rumi. which says, 'He is a letter to all. Open it and it says, "Live!"
